HiFi 3

This is one of the most rewarding projects I have ever been asked to do. To take someone’s vision and bring it to life is always a challenge because you want to do it justice. Especially when the meaning goes far beyond just a fun car audio build.

I took a lot of time in the design process of this enclosure which houses two 10″ Focal Utopia M subwoofers. There are a ton of hidden details the hide beyond the obvious ones. One each end of the enclosure you can find the many faces of Jack Skellington which are rastered into the Alcantara suede. You can really only see it when light hits it at an angle. In the center of the enclosure you can find a tribute to Jack and Sally. We created the dimension and lighting contrast with multiple pieces of acrylic which are all layered in front of each other. This made the design a bit complicated because each layers have certain outlines that compliment the layer in front of it.

Underneath the floor you can find all of the electronics. We used a MoBridge interface for the OEM amplifier to take a digital signal from the OEM radio to our new Helix Ultra S DSP. We used a Mosconi Pro 4/30 which amplifies a set of Focal TBM Tweeters as well as Utopia M Midrange. Both of these speakers still reside in the factory locations. A Mosconi Pro 2/10 was used to power our Helix i7 Midbass speakers in the OEM footwell locations. We used a Mosconi Atamo 4 to power the rear speakers active.

The entire trunk as well as the doors were fully sound treated with a combination of SoundShield and Hushmat. Finally, an stealth pod was created under the HVAC unit to house our Helix Conductor DSP controller. We utilized the same design elements to make this look as factory as possible. The controller sits behind a pieces of smoked acrylic to make it look fully integrated into the pod.
