HiFi 3

This BMW M5 CS came to us all the way from Florida to get the full treatment of audio and countermeasures. Starting off with the audio, we upgraded the front speakers with a combination of Helix and Focal. We utilized the Helix i5 8” Midbass in 3d printed adapters to replace the under seat woofers. These were dual 2 ohm, so we utilized 4 channels of our Helix V Twelve DSP amp to power these. For our midrange and tweeter, we used the Focal Utopia M. Both of these sets of speakers were installed in their respective OE locations in the door and sail panels. We utilized the OE rear speakers and ran them active through our V Twelve DSP amplifier.

For our subwoofer, we chose the JL Audio 13TW5. This was housed in a custom built subwoofer enclosure that floated above the amp rack. We used a Helix P One mono amplifier to power our subwoofer. We created decorative trim and a new grille for the enclosure to keep everything looking integrated. A pass through has to be created for the rear deck in order to relieve pressure from the trunk. This is the CS version, so it did not have a ski pass in the rear seats. We created a jig to cut a perfect hole in the rear deck and a new grille was pressed to fit our new opening.

Our Helix conductor was integrated in a custom stealth mount on the center console trim. This was the main controller for our audio system. We utilized 3 separate presets. Preset 1 controlled the OEM radio exactly as it was originally intended. Preset 2 controlled our HiFi bluetooth chip which resides in the DSP amplifier. This gave us the best way to digitally connect our phone to our DSP amplifier for the most bandwidth. Finally, preset 3 controls an Astell & Kern SP3000 DAP. This is our source to give us the best signal possible to our upgraded equipment.
