HiFi 3

Jobs like these are exactly why I love doing what I do. Epic customer reaction to critical sound listening and high expectations. The goal for this particular build revolved around sound quality while continuing to keep functionality of the entire car. We only used a fraction of the storage space in the rear to install our gear. Aesthetics were minimized as our budget was focused on gear.

For the front stage we utilized the newly released Focal Utopia 8″ midbass woofers, 3 -1/2″ midrange, and TBM tweeters. The front doors were fully sound treated with Hushmat and finished off with Blackhole Tiles. Custom speaker housings were fabricated to adapt our 8″ woofer into the factory location and set at the same angle. The OEM A-Pillars were modified to accept our midrange and tweeter on axis. A custom grille was fabricated and pressed to protect our midrange speaker. A concave press was used to compliment the tweeter grille and speaker cone design. A factory headliner material was sourced to refinish the pillar for an OEM finish. Focal Auditor was used as a simple replacement for the rear. New speaker adapters were fabricated in acrylic to bolt in like factory. A controlled amount Hushmat was used to sound treat the rear doors because of weight restraints.

Mosconi Pro amplifiers was used as they have excellent sound quality while not having a big footprint. A Mosconi Pro 5/30 was used to power the rear speakers, front door mid bass woofers, and Focal Utopia M 10″ subwoofer. A Mosconi 4/10 was used to power our midrange and tweeters for our front stage. We created a design to conceal all of our equipment under the smaller storage area in the trunk. Under the OEM floor you can find all of our equipment finished off with an acrylic trim. All equipment is laid out in a way that is easily accessible and serviceable.

A PVC and acrylic trim was used to create a vent from the subwoofer and amplifiers from underneath. The design revolves around Tesla’s interior design and the shape of the Falcon wing doors. The enclosure that houses the Focal 10″ Utopia M subwoofer was built from Russian Baltic Birch. We then finished it with stain and epoxy followed by a few layers of clear coat. The enclosure was finished off with acrylic trim.

All of our signal ran through a Mosconi 8to12 Aerospace DSP. Our factory Tesla signal ran through preset 1. Preset number two features a tune for our AMAS96K BT streaming and Digital Coax input. Preset 3 gives us an analog input from our Astell & Kern Hi-Res DAP. The pocket under the MCU was modified to house our full size Mosconi Remote Control.

Another rolling audio studio is completed and in the books.
